Johnny Manziel was taken with the 22nd pick in the NFL Draft, and the Cleveland Browns have been really hard on him so far in their mini camp. Manziel today took third team reps, behind journeyman Tyler Thigpen who was signed as a free agent the other day.
According to NFL Media’s Aditi Kinkhabwala, Cleveland launched its offseason workout activities with veteran quarterback Brian Hoyer taking first-team snaps. He was followed by journeyman Tyler Thigpen at the No. 2 spot before Johnny Football who took reps as the third stringer.
This is very strange for a first round pick to be taking third team reps. I don’t know if this is just trying to calm Johnny down, but I am not sure if the method the Browns are using makes a lot of sense. They might push him right out of town if they keep it up.
