Bills Ralph Wilson Jr, played important role in WW2 and the growth of the NFL
Today, the reason we are able to fire up the Grills and spend the day with our families is because our armed forces put in blood, sweat and tears. There have been several NFL players that have served our armed forces, but many forget that the Buffalo Bills owner who recently died played a very important role in both the military as well as the growth of the NFL.
Wilson enlisted in the Navy and was in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters during World War II. He went on to found the Buffalo Bills and was an influential AFL owner.
Wilson, a key figure in the 1970 AFL-NFL merger, was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2009 after building the small-market Bills into one of the sport’s real success stories.
Thanks Ralph!!!
