Donte Whitner backs down from changing his name to “Hitner”
Donte Whitner the newest member of the Cleveland Browns decided last year that he wanted to change his name to Donte Hitner, but has recently backed down from that claim.
After pondering changing it, Cleveland Browns safety Donte Whitner has decided to keep his name.
“All for one letter change?” Whitner said Wednesday at the Browns’ second day of minicamp. “I’d rather not.”
Whitner considered the name change to further his image as a big hitter but claims after he talked to Chad Johnson (formerly Chad Ochocinco) he had a change of heart.
“I think the majority of people will call me ‘Hitner’ regardless,” Whitner said.
I think this is a smart idea, especially when the Browns fans see how bad he is when he covers a tight end. It might not be expected too greatly in Cleveland.
