What was Ndamukong Suh doing when he fired his agent?
I have been trying to figure out why Ndamukong Suh has fired his agent Roosevelt Barnes. Barnes was able to get Suh one of the most lucrative rookie deals ever in the NFL for a rookie. Now there are rumors that Suh has been considering negotiating his own blockbuster contract with the Lions this offseason.
Suh fired agent Roosevelt Barnes of Relativity Sports in January and has been rumored to have signed with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation for marketing purposes and to have found another agent to negotiate his contract. Lions general manager Martin Mayhew said at the combine that Suh had narrowed his list of potential agents and expected him to make a decision soon, but he remains without an agent.
Since being drafted second overall in the 2010 draft, Suh has been an All-Pro three times, and if he agrees to a six-year deal, it could be worth as much as $100 million based on his amount of leverage….
I still don’t get the concept though. An agent makes a measly 3 percent of a contract negotiation. I guess I don’t get why he couldn’t just give his former agent that percentage? To be honest he deserved it.
