New Orleans Saints cleared 17 million in cap space today by cutting three veterans
Today the New Orleans Saints released Jabari Greer, Will Smith, and Roman Harper. Two of the moves were not a surprise, in Will Smith and Roman Harper. The surprise move was definitely Jabari Greer. Greer has been a very solid starter since arriving in New Orleans. Greer is 32 and coming off an ACL injury, but obviously the Saints feel they can get a player to fill in for Greer.
The release of Will Smith cleared the most room, as it cleared $11.55 million in cap space, while Harper’s saves the Saints $2.18 million. This is an interesting couple cuts because all three can go to a team right now and start. They will become free agents and all will be able to sign anywhere.
Expect Jimmy Graham to be made a big offer soon. Obviously, the Saints are going all in to free cap to get Graham locked down.
