In the last 3 years only four teams have not drafted a quarterback
I thought this was a very interesting statistic I discovered today. Those four teams that have not drafted a quarterback since 2011 are the Dallas Cowboys, St. Louis Rams, Detroit Lions, and New Orleans Saints. This is pretty interesting because all of them have a solid quarterback, but is this the year they find themselves a back-up?
Dallas Cowboys have Tony Romo but let’s face it the guy needs a back up. Last year they brought 41 year old Jon Kitna on board to help them during Romo’s injury. Even though they have Kyle Orton they still need a quarterback of the future. One great person I could see the Cowboys going after is Jimmy Garoppolo of Eastern Illinois. Garoppolo broke all of Romo’s records in college at the same school and could be a very solid back up.
New Orleans Saints do not need a quarterback, but I still feel the team should draft a guy. One guy I could see them drafting is Aaron Murray. The former Georgia Bulldog has a lot of skills and reminds me a lot of Drew Brees. Murray could be a later pick that comes in a learns from one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.
Detroit Lions definitely need to draft a quarterback, especially with the last several performances of Matthew Stafford. I think one quarterback that could come in and be a very suitable back up is A.J. McCarron. McCarron is a proven winner and could turn into a very solid back up. He could be a steal in the draft.
St. Louis Rams need a quarterback especially with the injury issues Sam Bradford has sustained. I could see the team drafting Tajh Boyd to come in and compete with Bradford. Boyd can run and pass, which will benefit the Rams. They definitely need someone over Kellen Clemens.
