Draft Diamonds Prospect Interview: Michael Campanaro, WR, Wake Forest
How many teams were recruiting you out of high school?
Where did you choose and why?
I chose Wake Forest because I felt like I had a opportunity to come in and play right away. I love coach Grobe and the coaching staff. The offense Wake ran fit my style. I loved the campus and the academics . Playing in the ACC is big time college football. At the time Wake was a top 25 team. Wasn’t too far away from my family. Perfect fit for me.
What were your goals for your senior year?
Win the ACC championship
Have any scouts met with you, and if so what are they saying?
I met with every team at the Senior Bowl. I received a lot of great feed back . I’m looking forward to meeting with then again at the NFL Combine.
At your position, what separates you from the others?
I feel my change of pace and knowledge for the game helps me be successful at my position . I feel I have a great quickness and speed. During the season and during the off-season I feel like I outwork the competition.
Tell us what you look for when breaking down film?
Of course I like watching my competitor and seeing what I’ll be going against week to week, but mainly I look at the tendencies in D coordinators . What they like to play against certain sets we run. How they disguise the D they are setting up. Knowing where and when to attack the D helps me be successful with my position.
Who was the toughest player you have ever faced?
Kevin Johnson at Wake Forest
