Top five most underrated 2014 free agents that can lead a team to the playoffs
I thought of a new ranking, and that is the top 5 most underrated free agents that will be available in 2014.
The best available player in my opinion is Greg Hardy of the Carolina Panthers. The Ole Miss product has been an animal for the Carolina Panthers, and while he is not talked about as much as Robert Mathis or Robert Quinn he really made an impact this year. I am not sure Hardy will leave the Panthers, but if he does, he will be a hot commodity. I think that he is by far one of the better young pass rushers in the game.
While everyone is talking about Jimmy Graham as the best tight end in free agency, I feel a little different. I love Graham, but feel that Dennis Pitta of the Baltimore Ravens is a better option for teams. Pitta has been Joe Flacco’s security blanket for the past several years. There are teams that are going to pay for tight ends, and I would not be surprised if Pitta lands on one of them.
Jared Veldheer of the Oakland Raiders is a very solid offensive tackle. The Raiders have not had a good lineman in several years, and I hope they lock this guy up. If they cannot for whatever reason, Veldheer will be a steal for a team. He is a massive guy with great athletic skills. He played like a Pro-Bowler this year, and deserves to get a nice pay day.
People do not want to talk about how bad they messed up when this next guy came out in the draft, but he has been a monster since entering the NFL. His name is Brandon Spikes of the New England Patriots. Spikes is one of the most underrated inside linebackers, and will hopefully get a nice pay day. Spikes is a guy that is a leader, and plays with tons of passion. He might not be the fastest guy but his heart might be the biggest of all Middle linebackers in the NFL.
Do you like tall cornerbacks? Me too, that is why I feel that Sam Shields of Green Bay Packers had to make this list. While many will put Dominique Rodgers – Cromartie or Charles Tillman above him, Shields always seems to get the job done. The Sarasota, Florida native is about to get a huge pay day.
