The Patriots will only have one job this week against the Colts; SHUT DOWN T.Y. Hilton
With Reggie Wayne on season-ending injured reserve, T.Y. Hilton has emerged as the Colts’ go-to target. He was dynamic in the wild-card round win over the Chiefs (13 catches, 224 yards, 2 TDs) and it wouldn’t be surprising if cornerback Aqib Talib is called upon to match up against him. The Patriots haven’t had a matchup corner like Talib since Ty Law (1995-2004). The second-team All-Pro hasn’t matched up every week, but when he has, he’s mostly been very competitive.
This week the Colts overcame a 28-point to beat the Chiefs. That’s the second-largest comeback in playoff history. Luck finished 29-of-45 for 443 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions.
He capped off the comeback when he took a step up in the pocket and found receiver T.Y. Hilton streaking downfield for a 64-yard touchdown with less than five minutes left in the game.
Hilton finished the game, with 13 receptions, but was targeted 15 times. Listen if they want to stop the Colts, Aqib Talib will have to have a good game. We will see if he is in fact the best corner in the game.
