Patriots worked out two punters today, but none were signed
The Patriots may need to add a punter this week after Ryan Allen left Saturday’s game with a right shoulder injury, though head coach Bill Belichick told the “Salk & Holley” show on sports radio WEEI in Boston Monday afternoon that no decision has been made yet.
The team worked out two punters, Shawn Powell and Robert Malone, earlier this season, though it’s not known whether either would be under consideration to sign if the team needs to replace Allen.
Kicker Stephen Gostkowski took over in Allen’s place on Saturday night, holding his own with nearly a 42-yard average on five punts. Quarterback Tom Brady replaced Allen as the holder, though a new punter would be likely to handle that duty if signed.
