Navorro Bowman does in fact have a torn ACL and MCL and will undergo surgery
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports the San Francisco 49ers linebacker suffered a torn ACL and MCL in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
The MCL will heal with rest but Bowman will undergo surgery to repair the ACL. According to Rapoport, the injury is not as bad as originally feared and there is hope he’ll be ready for the start of 2014 season.
Bowman was injured in the second half of San Francisco’s 23-17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game when two players fell into his planted left knee as he made a play on a goal-line stand.
He appeared to have a fumble recovery on the play, but officials ruled Seattle running backMarshawn Lynch ended up with the ball.
