Jim Schwartz promises a fast, and physical defense in Buffalo
Buffalo Bills fans were heartbroken when Mike Pettine was given the head coaching spot for the Cleveland Browns, but just a few hours after that hire, Buffalo made one of their own. The Bills hired former Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz. Today Schwartz was introduced to the Buffalo media and he fired up the Bills fans talking about a fast and physical defense.
“We’re an attack scheme, it’s a scheme built on the guys up front getting after the quarterback,” he said. “As much as you want to be multi-dimensional with personnel groups, this league comes down to one on one and I think we have some guys that can do that.”
“We’ll be fast, we’ll be physical, and we’ll attack. We are not going to be a reading defense,” Schwartz said. “There’s going to be a lot of defensive lineman that will be real happy to play in a system like that.”
The Bills have an impressive personnel group and could be a mismatch like they were this year for their opposing offensive lines. Expect the Bills to improve in their run defense and if they can apply pressure the way they did last year, they could be something special.
