James Bradberry

6’1 205 lbs

What is your position? 

Cornerback

Where do you play college football? 

Samford University

Football is about giving back, what is the coolest thing you have done off the field? 

The coolest thing I’ve done off the field was play various games like wheelchair basketball with kids who had physical disabilities at the Lakeshore Foundation.

What was the hardest college class you ever had to take?

Physiology

Where are you from? 

Pleasant Grove, AL

Who is your role model, and why? 

My mom. The most resilient person I know. Her actions and words help motivate me to be a better person on and off the field.

Did you play any other sports growing up? 

Basketball, baseball, and soccer

Did you play any other positions in football? 

Wide receiver, running back, quarterback, safety, and returner

At your position, what separates you from others? 

The thing that separates me is my ability to move with any type of receiver at my size.

When you are breaking down film, what do you look for?

I look for route combinations, receiver releases, and the mannerism of a receiver when they are running routes.

james bradberryWho was the toughest player you ever faced? 

When I was in High school I played against Brandon Bender, who is now at JSU. In high school he played quarterback and safety. The reason I mention him is because he was great competitor who would sacrifice his body for his team every time we played each other.

If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be and why? 

Aqib Talib- Our build and style of play I believe are very similar. He can press and also play off. He is very versatile.

What was the biggest obstacle in your life you had to overcome, and how did you overcome it? 

The biggest obstacle for me was transferring schools and also switching from safety to corner. During the process of transferring certain coaches and players doubted my ability to make the position switch, so initially I had doubts if I could play cornerback.

As a small school football player what obstacles do you feel you have to overcome?

Many people doubt if you can play at the next level, because they believe there is a big drop off in talent when you compare the FBS to the FCS.

What is your biggest strength? 

My size

What is your biggest weakness? 

My biggest weakness is my ability to read the hips of smaller receivers.

If I were a GM and gave you a second to sell yourself, what would you say? 

I’m a big corner with a versatile skill set. I can play any defense, man or zone. I am also a contributor on special teams.

Who was your favorite player and/or NFL team growing up? 

Marshall Faulk, St. Louis Rams

If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would, you choose?

Deceased auntie, deceased grandma, and Harriet Tubman

With your first NFL paycheck what would you buy?

A big ole juicy steak.
