Jared Holloway

6’0 290

What is your position?

Defensive Tackle/Nose Guard

Where do you play college football?

Samford University

Football is about giving back, what is the coolest thing you have done off the field?

Our football team has done many community service evens but my favorite would have to be the work we did at Red Barn. It is a place where special needs children can go ride horses, swim, and have fun. We helped them clean up the farm grounds and set up the grounds for the kids to come play.

What was the hardest college class you ever had to take?

I took a biology class my sophomore year that was unbelievably hard.

Where are you from?

Mobile, AL

Who is your role model, and why?

My role model is my father. He has set an example for me on how to be a real man with a God-centered life.

Did you play any other sports growing up?

I did track and field. I threw the discus.

Did you play any other positions in football?

I played running back all the way up until varsity football in high school.

At your position, what separates you from others?

I feel like I play with a high amount of passion and a very high motor. I try to be able to play every play full speed and always run to the ball. I feel like that’s a good quality to have for a big man position.

When you are breaking down film, what do you look for?

I look for strengths and weaknesses so I know what I can take advantage of. I also look for tendencies so I can make some pre snap reads and possibly key some plays.

Who was the toughest player you ever faced?

I’d have to say it would be my teammate, Armando Bonheur. We’ve had some battles in practice and we are constantly making each other better.

If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be and why?

I’d say Michael Pierce for the Baltimore Ravens. He is a former teammate and one of my best friends. I’ve always looked up to him and tried to model my game after his.

What was the biggest obstacle in your life you had to overcome, and how did you overcome it?

I’ve never been handed anything. I’ve always been overlooked and doubted. When I was younger, i used to let it bring me down. Now, I use it as motivation to keep getting better and keep working hard. I feel like it has made me play with a chip on my shoulder.

jaredDo you have any pre-game rituals?

A group of my teammates and I go to the middle of the field and pray as a group before every game.

What is your biggest strength?

My biggest strength is my perseverance and work ethic. I’ve always prided myself on being the hardest worker in the room and never giving up.

What is your biggest weakness?

My biggest weakness is my pride. I tend to beat myself up when I don’t meet my own expectations.

If I were a GM and gave you a second to sell yourself, what would you say?

I would tell you that I’m going to work hard day in and day out and I’m going to give my all to the program in every facet possible.

Who was your favorite player and/or NFL team growing up?

My favorite team is the Cowboys. My favorite player was Eddie George. I started playing football because of him. My very first number was 27 too. He was a hard nosed player and I wanted to be just like him.

If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would you choose?

Both my grandmothers who have passed and my cousin who passed when I was in high school.
