Draft Diamonds Prospect Interview: Doug Elliot, DB, Angelo State University

What is your name?

Doug Elliott 

Where do you play college football?

At Angelo State University 

How many teams were recruiting you out of high school?

A couple of D1 AA’s schools and some schools from the Pac 12.  

How did you choose your school?

I like what the coaches was talking about. Telling me that I can make an immediate impact there. They also have a nice program and facilities and I just wanted to be a part a good tradition at Angelo State. 

Where are you from?

Corona, California  

Who is your role model, and why?

My dad is my role model because he the that pushes me to be the best at what ever I do and without him I wouldn’t be the man I am today. 

Have any scouts met with you yet, and if so what are they saying?

I met 2 scouts at my junior pro day and they wished me good luck on the season. 

Did you play any other sports growing up?

Yes I played basketball, baseball, soccer and wrestling. 

Did you play any other positions in football?

Yes, I played corner, outside linebacker, receiver, quarterback, and running back. 

At your position, what separates you from others?

I feel like my instincts when I’m on the field  separates me from the rest because I know what goes on before the play is even snapped and that comes from me watching a lot of film. 

doug elliotWhen you are breaking down film, what do you look for?

I look for personnel, player and coaching tendencies.  

Who was the toughest player you ever faced?

Jaelen Strong, the receiver from Arizona State #21.  

If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be and why?

Eric Weddle because he’s a smart safety that can cover and have that knack for the ball. 

What was the biggest obstacle in your life you had to overcome, and how did you overcome it?

I’ve been faced with many obstacles in my life and none bigger then the other because I know what faith in the Lord allow me to get through them. 

Do you have any pre-game rituals?

None

What is your biggest strength?

My biggest strength is being able to cover in space and making the big play.  

What is your biggest weakness?

Having my eyes in the wrong spot Sometimes.

If I were a GM and gave you a second to sell yourself, what would you say?

Take a chance on me, you wouldn’t regret it. 

Who was your favorite player and NFL team growing up?

Sean Taylor and the Oakland Raiders  

If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would you choose?

Sean Taylor, 2pac and Martin Luther King.
