Wisconsin High School Football Player Dies After Game Injury

A Wisconsin high school football community is mourning the loss of a student-athlete who died following an injury sustained during a football game Thursday night.
Adam Massman, a senior at Alma Center Lincoln High School, died after being injured during the school’s game against Turtle Lake on Thursday, Aug. 20, according to a statement sent to Lincoln High School families by District Superintendent Drew Semingson.
Emergency medical personnel were on site during the game, and Massman was transported to a hospital following the incident. School officials have not disclosed the nature of the injury.
In a statement to families, Semingson said the district would only release information that had been approved by Massman’s family.
Massman’s death has left students, teammates, coaches, teachers and members of the Alma Center community grieving.
Lincoln Jr./Sr. High School is making counselors available to students, parents and friends who need support following the tragedy. Additional counseling services are scheduled to be available beginning at noon Monday, Aug. 24, and continuing through Tuesday.
The school has encouraged members of the community to seek support as they process the loss of a young man who was preparing to complete his senior year.
The circumstances surrounding Massman’s injury have not been publicly detailed, and officials have asked that the family’s privacy be respected as they mourn.
For the Alma Center Lincoln football program and the entire school community, the days ahead will be focused not on football, but on remembering Massman and supporting those who knew and loved him.
Our thoughts are with Adam Massman’s family, teammates, friends, coaches, classmates and everyone in the Alma Center Lincoln community during this difficult time.
