What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
My father played at Rutgers and ever since I could hold a football he was throwing to me. My whole childhood was football and I fell in love with it my father taught me everything I know about it.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
A couple I can think of are my best friend Joe Vancott in 5th grade and him throwing me an 80 yard touchdown, my father getting to coach for me and learning from him, my senior year winning Suffolk player of the week against our cross town rivals, junior year scoring three touchdowns on senior day, coach cosh coming to stony brook and teaching me a lot, transferring to Cortland and being apart of something special, scoring a 65 yard touchdown in the Cortaca.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
My dad and mom, can’t pick one. My dad truly showed me the path to be who I am and my mom is the one who gave me the strength to keep going no matter what.
What do you love the most about the game of football?
The passion and obsession I have for it and all my teammates have for it. It truly is a one of a kind sport that I am blessed to be able to play.
If you could hang out with any football player, past or present for a day, who and why?
Calvin Johnson, 100% favorite player of all time watched him growing up all the time and truly tried basing my game around his truly inspires me.
What are your favorite things about playing football for Cortland?
The people and it’s truly a one of a kind place, the atmosphere there, the bond is like no other. Coach Blu coming in taking this team over teaching me a lot about not only the game but how to be a man. Joe Iadevaio, one of our captains taking me under his wing welcoming me with open arms and becoming one of my best friends.
What should we know about Jacque LaPrarie the person?
That I’m a hardworking, trustworthy man, who will do anything for the people closest to him, my father passed away a little over a year ago so I have one of the greatest motivations a man could have and that’s to make my father proud of the man I become and I’m willing to do anything for that. Our biggest goal was to play professionally somewhere so I’m working as hard as I can to do so.
What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?
Air raid definitely I feel it lets me perform at my best I feel spreading the defense out making them cover all parts of the field is something not many defenses can do.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
I feel like I have had many very big challenges in my life and have had moments where they over took me but for the most part I feel I have handled everything life has thrown at me. I’ve been tested and tested and have never given up and will never because at the end of the day giving up doesn’t get you anywhere towards your goals.
What would a team get in a player like you?
A team would be getting resilience, a team player, and a guy who can go up and get a ball over anyone at anytime.
What stands out about your film the most?
What I would say what stands out the most is my jump ball ability being able to go up and over with the best of them. I would also say my blocking being able to create lanes for bubbles, tosses or any outside run.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
One from high school Timmy Vanderbrink who currently plays at St. John Fisher, one of the most head down and work guys I’ve ever met, truly the hardest worker in any room he is in and has football running through his veins and one from college would be Sam Cotton one of the best all around football players I’ve seen play can do anything from throw a touchdown to make a game winning one handed pick truly an awesome football player.
