The Baltimore Ravens organization confirmed today the sudden passing of former defensive lineman Arthur Jones, who died at the age of 39.

Jones, a fifth-round draft pick by Baltimore in 2010, played with the Ravens from 2010 to 2013 before continuing his NFL career with the Indianapolis Colts and Washington. Over his eight seasons in the league, he tallied 173 tackles, 10 sacks, and two forced fumbles.

A player and presence who left an impact

The Ravens’ front office and former teammates remember Jones as more than just a player on the field. “His big, bright smile, infectious energy and eternal positivity created a presence that continuously uplifted others,” Ravens GM Eric DeCosta said in a statement. His kindness, enthusiasm, and devotion to family and friends were often highlighted in tributes.

During his time in Baltimore, Jones contributed to the team’s defensive rotation, and he was part of the Ravens’ Super Bowl run (XLVII) as a member of the organization.

Jones’s passing has sent ripples through the NFL and among fans, as many reflect on his career and character. The details surrounding his death have not yet been publicly disclosed, and his family’s privacy is being respected during this difficult time.

We extend our deepest condolences to Arthur Jones’s loved ones, former teammates, and all who were touched by his life.
