New England Patriots Defeat Washington Commanders 48 – 18, Three New England Players Who Stood Out

New England Patriots Defeat Washington Commanders 48 – 18, Three New England Players Who Stood Out By: Karver Jordan

The newly coached New England Patriots under Mike Vrabel completely demolished the Washington Commanders on all sides of the ball – especially on the Special Teams unit. The Patriots came off a good joint practice vs the Washington Commanders and it showed on Friday night. New England’s score of 48 points showed all the growth this team has gone through under new leadership from Mike Vrabel, Josh McDaniels, Terrell Williams, and the rest of the position group coaches. Now let’s get into the three players who stood out from New England.

  1. TreVeyon Henderson Running Back

The rookie running back out of Ohio State showed why New England drafted him at the 38th Overall pick. His speed and ball carrier vision ranks him highly and he showed why on the opening kickoff. The rookie back took the opening kickoff 100-yards to the house showing his speed, the 5-foot-10, 203-pound running back is going to be a name to watch on special teams for sure – no questions about it.

Henderson was also solid on the offensive side of the ball, one run for 18-yards and three catches for 12. The rookie got a good work load in and made plays with the ball.

  1. Efton Chism iii Wide Receiver

The UDFA Wide Receiver out of EWU (Eastern Washington University) and a preseason favorite Efton Chism iii had a very solid showing in his first bit of NFL Action. Chism played a good portion of the game, mostly with Josh Dobbs and Ben Wooldridge as his quarterbacks. Chism led the team with six receptions and 50 receiving yards, he got a lot of opportunities to make plays.

  1. DJ James Defensive Back

DJ James has been on everyone’s radar for a good amount of time, the young defensive back proved why on Friday evening. James recorded three tackles, and an interception vs the Commanders. James showed his speed to undercut the throw, exactly what you love to see from a young defensive back trying to fight for a spot on the 53-man roster. The 24-year-old has been making plays throughout training camp and in preseason, he deserves to be on the 53-man roster and is someone to watch closely these next couple of games.

The New England Patriots play next Saturday at 1:00 PM EST at the Minnesota Vikings, check local TV Channels to watch the game. This may vary depending on your location.
