Chargers Linebacker Denzel Perryman Arrested on Felony Weapons Charge
Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman, who had a brief stint with the Carolina Panthers earlier in his career, was arrested Friday night on a felony weapons charge, according to multiple reports.
ESPN reported that Perryman, 32, was taken into custody in Los Angeles on Aug. 1 after deputies conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, authorities reportedly discovered five firearms in his vehicle, including two AR-style rifles. TMZ noted that Perryman was allegedly en route to a gun range at the time.
Following his arrest, Perryman was booked into L.A. County jail. The Chargers released a statement to ESPN acknowledging they were “aware of the situation” and are “gathering information.”
Perryman’s agent issued a separate statement to NFL Network, asserting that the veteran linebacker “will fully cooperate with the process.”
Perryman, a former Pro Bowl selection in 2021, tallied 55 tackles and one sack across 11 games for the Chargers during the 2024 season.
