Ezekiel Elliott visits with New England Patriots
Written by Karver Jordan
Former Dallas Cowboy and Ohio State Buckeye Ezekiel Elliott has visited with the Patriots. The New England Patriots have been hosting free agent running back visits since the beginning of July. A couple weeks ago New England had Leonard Fournette and Darrell Henderson, now they have hosted Elliott.
New England is looking for a veteran running back who could fill that number two role on the depth chart. The Patriots have Rhamondre Stevenson (Third year), Pierre Strong Jr (Second year), Kevin Harris (Second year), JJ Taylor (Third year), and Ty Montgomery II (Ninth year). A solid veteran back in Ezekiel Elliott could be great for the young guys and could be a great leadership role. Let’s take a look at the veteran back stats in the previous season.
A little about Ezekiel Elliott:
Age: 28 years old
Height and Weight: Six foot (6’) 225 pounds
College: Ohio State
2022-23 season recap:
Ezekiel Elliott is coming off a “Down” year, but for most running backs this would be a pretty solid season. In the 15 games Elliott played in he would have 231 rushing attempts for 876 yards while adding 12 touchdowns. This would be statically the worst season for the back however, he did not fumble the ball one time all season. The RB would most range 13-15 carries a game and he would average 3.6 yards a carry, (Lowest Yard Per Attempt of his career). Elliott and the Cowboys would go their separate ways after the season.
Karvers Prediction:
I think Ezekiel Elliott and the Patriots will reach a deal by early next week. The Patriots are in need for that solid backup running back. I could see the Patriots having Rhamondre Stevenson as number one and having Elliott/Strong Jr split reps.
