What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
From a young age, I was always watching football and developed a strong desire to become a great player myself. As I got older, I fell in love with the process, especially throughout high school, and that passion only grew once I reached the college level. I truly enjoy the daily grind and the work that goes into becoming better every day.
What are your favorite moments from your football career?
One of my favorite moments was my sophomore year during the first game of the season, when I recorded an interception to seal a win against Hope. Moments like that stand out, but I also genuinely enjoy the day-to-day aspects of football, such as game preparation and weight training.
What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?
My goal is to earn a spot on an NFL or CFL roster. I’m focused on getting the opportunity to compete in front of coaches and demonstrate my versatility, skill set, and ability to contribute at a high level.
If you could spend a day with any football player, past or present, who would it be and why?
I would choose Lavonte David. I’ve always respected the way he carries himself both on and off the field. I admire his professionalism, unselfishness, and team-first mindset. I would value the opportunity to learn from him, talk football, and gain insight into his approach to the game.
Which family member inspires you the most and why?
My dad has always inspired me with his strong work ethic. He worked hard every day but still made time to be there for me, whether it was playing catch or shooting hoops. Those little moments made a lasting impact on me. My mom also inspires me with how hard she worked while raising four kids. I now understand how difficult that was, and her love, support, and example have meant a lot to me. My fiancé inspires me as well. She supports me, pushes me to be better, and motivates me to work harder every day.
What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?
My favorite defensive scheme is a base 3–4 with an aggressive, blitz-heavy approach. I also like incorporating elements of a 4–2–5 to create pressure from multiple positions. I enjoy schemes that allow for versatility and the ability to disrupt the offense.
What should we know about Ty Hopp as a person?
I was adopted from Russia as an infant and have been fortunate to grow up in a supportive family that has provided me with great opportunities. I consider myself a humble, caring person who is also highly competitive in everything I do.
What stands out the most on your film?
I believe my speed, strength, and football IQ stand out the most. I take pride in playing fast and making smart decisions on the field.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the field?
I approach challenges head-on. On the field, I remain composed regardless of the situation or score. In life, I focus on finding solutions and asking myself how I can improve or make the situation better.
What would a team get in a player like you?
A team would get a hardworking, versatile player who is committed to continuous improvement and never becomes complacent. I’m also a strong locker room presence who genuinely wants the best for my teammates.
What do you love most about the game of football?
I love the preparation and the process throughout the week. Studying opponents, understanding tendencies, and getting ready to compete is something I truly enjoy.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
Two players come to mind. Cam Council, a defensive end, is an extremely hardworking and intelligent player who continues to improve every day. Braedon Hellinger is another standout, he’s a smart player who elevates those around him and made a strong impact when we played together.
