A star football player at Brigham Young University has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged sexual assault that prosecutors say occurred last year in southern Utah.

According to a news release issued Wednesday by the Washington County Attorney’s OfficeParker Trent Kingston, 21, has been charged with first-degree felony rape. Kingston is being held without bail in Washington County and is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Friday.

Prosecutors say the alleged assault stems from an incident reported on Feb. 23, 2025. A 20-year-old woman told police at St. George’s Regional Hospital that she had been sexually assaulted. Court documents state that the woman later told a forensic interviewer she had met up with Kingston but clearly communicated boundaries, including that she did not want to have sex.

According to the court filing, the two watched a movie together at the woman’s home and engaged in some sexual activity that did not include intercourse. The woman said she then left the room to get ready for bed. When she returned, Kingston allegedly initiated sexual activity again despite her telling him to stop and attempting to push him away. Prosecutors allege that Kingston raped the woman.

Court documents note that Kingston told investigators the encounter was consensual. Investigators also cited cellphone communications after the incident, stating they suggest Kingston went to the woman’s apartment with the intention of having sexual intercourse.

Attorney information for Kingston was not listed in court records. Kingston is a star wide receiver for Brigham Young University.
