Former EMCC football player Gentry Davis passed away

Gentry Davis was born on October 28, 2002, in Flowood, to his loving parents, Michael Scott Davis and Cindy Lynn Gentry Davis.
Gentry never understood the meaning of the word stop. Highly competitive and driven, he excelled both academically and athletically, pushing himself in the classroom and on the field. A standout at Richland High School, Gentry played football on both offense and defense, making his greatest impact as a linebacker. His dedication and leadership earned him the honor of Most Valuable Player in 2021 for the Rankin County School District.
Graduating with honors, Gentry continued his academic and athletic journey on scholarship at East Mississippi Community College, where he helped lead his team to a State Championship. He once again graduated with honors, reflecting the same commitment to excellence that defined every area of his life. At the time of his passing, Gentry was continuing his studies at Mississippi College.
When he wasn’t excelling in school or sports, Gentry could often be found in the gym, working to better himself, or staying up to date on the latest fitness and training trends. Beyond athletics, Gentry carried a deep passion for serving others. His dream was to become a first responder—specifically a police officer—so he could protect and help those in need. That calling was a reflection of his servant’s heart and genuine care for others.
Gentry Davis will be remembered for his relentless work ethic, leadership, compassion, and the positive impact he made on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
