18-year-old female arrested and charged with murder of Star Louisiana High School football player

A star football player in Louisiana was shot and killed on January 9th, 2026 in Union Parish, and now an arrest has been made.
According to reports, upon arrival, deputies discovered a male subject inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound.
According to authorities, life saving measures were immediately started by responding units, and the subject was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The victim has been identified as 18-year-old Kayane Smith of Farmerville.
Through police investigation, Cynia Gray an 18-year-old female from Spearsville, Louisiana admitted to shooting the victim and the weapon was removed from the vehicle.
Gray was arrested and charged with 2nd degree murder. She was later booked into the Union Parish Detention Center, and her bond was set by a Third Judicial District judge at $1,000,000.
