Former Oregon football player arrested by FBI for fraud, money laundering

Former Oregon Ducks wide receiver Cameron Colvin, who played for Oregon from 2004 to 2007, was arrested by the FBI on Thursday morning on charges of federal wire fraud and money laundering, according to a grand jury indictment online.
The nine-page indictment, filed Oct. 21, alleges that Colvin, 39, defrauded individuals of more than $1.25 million through purported investment opportunities and personal relationships, including with women he was romantically involved with.
“Colvin cultivated an image as a successful business mogul,” the indictment states. “He presented to clients that he had completed billions of dollars in real estate transactions when in fact he held no assets in his name and owned no real property.”
After going undrafted in the 2008 NFL Draft, Colvin briefly signed with the San Francisco 49ers but did not make the regular season roster. He later played with the UFL’s Las Vegas Locomotives in 2011. Following his football career, Colvin founded CamCo Commercial Inc., a Nevada-based real estate and venture capital firm that recently claimed to have handled $4 billion in transactions.
The case marks a dramatic turn for Colvin, once regarded as a promising college football talent whose post-football ventures are now under intense federal scrutiny.
