Breaking: Indianapolis Colts signed Dominican Offensive Tackle Bayron Matos

The Indianapolis Colts have added a promising young talent to their roster, signing offensive lineman Bayron Matos, formerly of the Miami Dolphins. Matos, who first made headlines as part of the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program (IPPP) in 2024, continues his remarkable journey from international prospect to NFL hopeful with a fresh start in Indianapolis.
Born in the Dominican Republic, Matos’ story is one of perseverance and athletic versatility. Before turning to football, he excelled in basketball — even playing collegiate hoops before making the switch to the gridiron. His rare blend of size, strength, and athleticism quickly turned heads during his transition to football. Standing 6-foot-7 and weighing 313 pounds, Matos boasts elite measurables, including a 4.88-second 40-yard dash, a mark that would have topped all offensive linemen at the NFL Scouting Combine.
After training at IMG Academy through the IPP Program, Matos earned praise from former NFL executive and analyst Scott Pioli, who highlighted his raw tools and rapid development as reasons to believe he could eventually stick in the league. Despite going undrafted in 2024, he signed with the Miami Dolphins as a free agent and spent time on their practice squad.
Unfortunately, Matos’ time in Miami was interrupted when he suffered an injury during training camp on July 23, 2025. The Dolphins later waived him with an injury designation during final roster cuts in late August.
Now healthy and ready for a new chapter, Matos’ signing with the Colts represents an opportunity for both sides. Indianapolis gains a high-upside developmental lineman with immense physical gifts, while Matos gets a chance to continue proving himself at the NFL level under a coaching staff known for developing young talent in the trenches.
If he can stay healthy and continue refining his technique, Bayron Matos could become one of the most intriguing success stories to emerge from the International Player Pathway Program.
