The 2025 college football season kicked off with several HBCU programs facing tough FBS opponents. While many of these games tested depth and discipline, standout individual performances shined through across the SWAC, MEAC, and beyond. Here’s a breakdown of the top performers from Week 2.


Texas Southern vs. California

Isaiah Bogerty (DB) – Collected 10 tackles (3 solo), showing range and consistency in the Tigers’ secondary.

Jason Patterson (DL) – Produced 3 solo tackles, 1 sack, and 2 tackles for loss, creating disruption up front.


Bethune-Cookman vs. Miami

Timmy McClain (QB) – Efficient passing day, going 13-of-16 for 86 yards against Miami’s defense.
