Toronto Argonauts Secure Rights to BOTH of Deion Sanders’ Sons After Shilo Joins Negotiation List

The Toronto Argonauts now control the exclusive CFL rights to both sons of Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, after adding defensive back Shilo Sanders to their negotiation list on Sunday. The move comes just months after Toronto claimed quarterback Shedeur Sanders back on April 28, making the Argos the only CFL team with dibs on the electrifying duo.
The timing was notable: Shilo was waived earlier in the day by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following his ejection in the team’s preseason finale, where he was flagged for unnecessary roughness after punching Buffalo Bills tight end Zach Davidson during a post-whistle scuffle.
For now, there’s no guarantee either Sanders brother will ever take a snap in Canada, but by locking up their rights, the Argos have positioned themselves as the franchise with first access to two of football’s most intriguing names.
Under CFL rules, clubs can hold up to 45 players on their negotiation list, allowing them to secure exclusive rights on a first-come, first-served basis. Players don’t have to agree to be listed—and many don’t even know about it—but they can force a decision by requesting a minimum contract offer.
Toronto’s bold move ensures that if Shilo or Shedeur Sanders ever decide to bring the family legacy north, the Argos will be the ones rolling out the red carpet.
