Pittmans Pocket: Bethune–Cookman vs. FIU: Simmons Faces Familiar Foe

The Friday night opener between Bethune–Cookman and FIU carries extra intrigue with a familiar storyline at the center. Former Florida A&M head coach Willie Simmons makes his debut at FIU, and his first test comes against a SWAC program he knows well.

Bethune–Cookman returns a mix of talent and experience that should make them competitive. Quarterback Timmy McClain provides a dual-threat presence, while veteran passer Cam’Ron Ransom gives the Wildcats stability under center.
