Pittman’s Pocket: The 2025-2026 Season Is Approaching — Year 3 of Pittman’s Pocket HBCU True Freshman All-American Watch Is Almost Here

As we gear up for another exciting season of HBCU football, it’s been a true pleasure to witness the emergence of some of the top true freshmen across the country. Standouts like Travis Terrell (Jackson State), Chase Bingmon (Prairie View A&M), Christian Rutledge (Shaw University), and Matthew McKenzie (Bethune-Cookman) have shown that elite talent continues to rise from HBCU programs.
Now, all eyes are turning toward the next wave of stars. Here are a few incoming HBCU true freshmen already making noise on the radar:
- David Gardner, OL – 6’6″, 325 lbs, Florida A&M (Orlando, FL)
- DJ Johnson, DB – 5’10”, 190 lbs, Bethune-Cookman (Sarasota, FL)
- Evan Phillips, DE – 6’4″, 235 lbs, South Carolina State (Graniteville, SC)
- Cameron Williams, DL – 6’3″, 285 lbs, Alabama A&M (Fairburn, GA)
- TJ Wilcox, QB – 6’2″, 185 lbs, Florida Memorial (Coconut Creek, FL)
- Phillip Jackson, LB – 6’2″, 230 lbs, Mississippi Valley State (Glen St. Mary, FL)
