What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?
When I was young, I was eight years old and I wanted to follow my brother’s path and then the more i played I got a spark and made friends who played football and that’s what kept me going.
What are your favorite moments from your football life?
During covid in 2020 I was playing at CEGEP, and our season was canceled three days before and I was in a position where I wanted to keep playing and I had to make a choice to stay at CEGEP to finish my classes or play at a university. I ended up making a huge choice and Concordia contacted me, but I also wanted to finish my degree and in 2022 I hadn’t played any games in a few years, and I started working to get my strength back and I worked hard to play at Concordia in 2022 and I learned to be confident and I’ve never missed any games since that and I’ve been a starter since then.
What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?
I feel like I want to finish playing at university and then have an objective to be the best and play professional is my next goal for me as a player.
If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day, who and why?
Kristian Matte, he was a good player for the Alouettes, and my coaches refer to me as him because my coaches think I looked like him and I feel like I really want to know him and learn more about him.
Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?
My big brother, because he used to play football, but he had amazing potential and could’ve played a long time and was CEGEP’s best offensive lineman when he was playing, and he was the biggest reason I wanted to play football, and I wanted to live like him and be like him.
What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?
I like to play in the run, and I like counter and make movement and pick up the defensive lineman and that’s what I love mostly.
What should we know about Félix Despins the person?
I’m a very mature guy but I’m someone who works hard and wants to help everyone on my team and I’m a protector and like protecting everything I love and someone who wants to give 100 percent of his strength onto the field. I’m a person or guy who never gives up and that’s what I’m known for.
What stands out about your film the most?
My intensity and I always like to prioritize good blocks and displace my opponent and control my opponent and give 100 percent and I always keep my eyes on the 2nd level and on the field and I use my vision to my advantage and understand what I need to do to block. And my communication with my teammates.
How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?
Mostly I learn a lot playing football of how to control my anxiety and be calm and it teaches me to work hard and give 100 percent and if I do that everything will be good and work out.
What would a team get in a player like you?
I’m a hardworking guy, who wants to give 100 percent, and I always want to be better and teachable, and I always want what’s best for everyone on the field and like if I’m injured, I’m willing to help my backup to be good and I’m a mature, calm guy, who wants to ask questions to make I do everything right and I always like communicating with my teammates and sharing my knowledge on the field.
What do you love the most about the game of football?
You play with many people on your team, and everyone understands the same feeling and it’s fun to play with a group of people who you will be friends with and have moments to look back and remember and I like to look back and think I have a special place on the football field.
Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?
Damien Irep, he’s a very talented guy who works hard and when he played, he wanted to work hard and when I was injured, he was my replacement, and I wanted him to be very successful and he played very fast, and he came along and has really good potential and is a very strong guy. Tristan Rinaldis, quarterback at CEGEP, he was someone who gave great leadership and never gives up and he was supposed to be out for the season, and he came back and played in the last game and he’s one of the best teammates I’ve had, and he wants what’s best for you.
