What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

When I moved back to Cooper Road and joined the kids in King Oaks, I had never played a sport before. I got hit hard during a game of throw-up tackle and wanted to quit, but the laughter from the other kids pushed me to keep going. I ran until I won, and from that day on, I fell in love with football. It became my everyday hobby and way to stay out of trouble.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

I have many but my most favorite was scoring a touchdown on defense my sophomore year in college, winning 3 conference rings with my teammates, beating Harding my senior year and also being first team All GAC.

What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?

To reach the professional level of football, I want to remain humble and become a smarter defensive lineman and to soak up the game from the veterans around me. Also to help better my community back home and to inspire other division two or small college players that it can be done.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day, who and why?

Troy Polamalu hands down one of the most exciting players I have ever seen play football. Growing up watching him and my other favorite Aaron Rodgers, watching those guys change games really inspired me to want to become a game changer and playmaker myself.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

My mother, being a single parent taking care of three kids on her own with no help always motivated me to be a better person. She’s truly made me the man I am today.

What is your favorite defensive scheme and why?

I really love 4-3 defensive scheme because it plays to my strength of attacking the line of scrimmage and getting to the backfield, I’m also comfortable in a 3-4 defense where I can show my quickness on the inside. I’m adaptable to whatever scheme a team runs.

What should we know about Rovell Carter the person?

I’m a funny person who values meaningful connections. I’m always open to conversation and enjoy being someone you can talk to about anything. I also love learning new things.

What stands out about your film the most?

Being in the backfield every game disrupting the run or the pass is my strongest asset and is something I also pride myself on. I’m versatile and very confident in my abilities to play any down or any situation.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

I learned that no matter what situation you go through to keep God first. My favorite scripture is Joshua 1:9. So I control what I can control and the rest I leave up to God.

What would a team get in a player like you?

A hard worker, this is a team sport so putting my team success first is at the top of my list, being a selfless player. A man that never quits and is ready to go head first at any challenge football can bring.

What do you love the most about the game of football?

The life lessons you learn, the people you meet and the lives that you touch on the journey.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

Anthony Freeman was my favorite defensive end. He always showed up ready to improve and was the most selfless teammate I’ve had. Whether it was extra work or explaining plays, he was always there to help. A true leader on and off the field.
