What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

I decided to play football because I grew up around it. My dad played, my grandfather played in college and once I started I never looked back.

What are your favorite moments from your football life?

My favorite moments from football are just the small interactions and conversations with all the guys. I’ve made so many lifelong relationships and consider so many family to me forever.

Which one of your family members inspires you the most and why?

My sister Leighton inspires me the most. She went through a lot as a kid and to see her grow and continue to be resilient every single day is something that requires toughness and I’ll always look up to her for that.

What are you looking to achieve as a football player going forward?

I’m just looking forward to having one last go with my guys here and leaving everything on the field with them. We’ve worked extremely hard and I’m excited for us to display that.

If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

If I could hangout with any player I would say Hines Ward, former Pittsburgh Steeler. He played the game with insane toughness. I remember watching him as a kid and he would get up from a huge hit and just smile at the dude who hit him and keep going. He also played his entire career with no ACL. Seems very down to earth.

What are your favorite things about playing football for Maine?

My favorite things about playing for Maine are the toughness it instills in you, the opportunity of playing football at a high level with people who really care about you, and the level in which this university prepares you to be successful beyond the game.

What should we know about Cooper Heisey the person?

As far as for me as a person you know I’m a very personable guy and enjoy helping other people. I enjoy traveling and spending my time with all different types of people.

What is your favorite offensive scheme and why?

My personal favorite offensive scheme is mid zone. I love it because when it hits frontside it’s a beautiful thing but when it cuts back and gashes it’s even better. It’s the whole unit working together or solo and paving the way.

How do you handle challenges both in life and on the football field?

I handle challenges both in life and football by really just trying to address it and attack it head on. You’ve got to be able to just figure it out to put it simply.

What would a team get in a player like you?

A team getting me gets a player who’s got a high football IQ, who is willing to work and earn everything.

What stands out about your film the most?

What stands out about my film is the versatility in which I’m used and my involvement in the run game/pass protection.

Who is the most underrated player you’ve played with and why?

The most underrated player I’ve played with is Joey Gilette here at Maine. Joey is the toughest dude I know. He doesn’t really use social media or anything at all which is rare today. He can play all over the field and stands out on film with his speed and athleticism. I don’t think there’s anybody I’ve played with that I respect more than Joey and he deserves recognition above all.
