Did the NFL want the Chiefs to win last night with all the Swiftie’s tuning in? Fans Blast NFL Refs
The Kansas City Chiefs beat the New York Jets last night in a dog fight on National television, but there were some pretty horrible calls made near the end of the game.
The NFL was hyping up the Taylor Swift thing to even have the people from The Voice explain the dating scene. The NFL was doing everything they could to make sure they panned to the singer, because let’s face it she is bringing fans to watch their product.
The fans swarmed Travis Kelce’s social media page giving him almost 900k more followers than he had previously and his jersey sales skyrocketed 400 percent.
I think when the ratings come out you will see the NFL is going to benefit big time from this performance by the young pop star.
The problem is the refs seemed to make some calls that were super questionable. They were giving the game away if you ask me.
On a 3rd and 22 with 6:21 left in the fourth quarter, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was able to scramble for 25 yards, thanks in part to an uncalled hold from OT Donovan Smith on Jets pass rusher Jermaine Johnson. This was the worst no call I have ever witnessed in NFL history. You can see Jermaine Johnson trying to pull away and there was no call.
Then, a late interception from Jets cornerback Michael Carter II was wiped away by a very late flag due to Sauce Gardner supposedly holding Chiefs receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling. The flag came after the interception. It was not before, they waited until Carter II was running up the field before they threw the flag.
As a result of these calls, a number of people believed that the refs made sure that the Chiefs would win – especially because of Taylor Swift in the stands.
Thanks to those plays, the Chiefs were able to run out the clock and cap off a closer-than-it-should-have-been 23-20 win.
