Breaking: Pat Fitzgerald has been fired by Northwestern football

According to Pete Thamel, Northwestern has fired head coach Pat Fitzgerald. A hazing scandal surrounding Northwestern University’s football team has led to the long-time Northwestern legend being fired.
Fitzgerald has been fired in the wake of the release of an investigation into alleged hazing in the program on Friday, and then more details coming out over the weekend. It looks like Fitzgerald will have more time to travel with his family.
Fitzgerald is arguably one of the most prominent athletes and coaches in the history of Northwestern athletics.
He was one of the greatest defensive players in the history of the school in the mid-1990s. This had to be super hard for the school to fire their coach. They were 1-11 last year, but this is a huge loss.
Northwestern University president Michael Schill had issued an update on the investigation into hazing allegations surrounding the Wildcats football program and head coach Pat Fitzgerald.
Schill admitted that he was “focused too much on what the report concluded [Fitzgerald] didn’t know.” Instead, he should have been focused on “what he should’ve known.” Schill then stated that he “just learned the name” of the player who first reported allegations.
I think the Northwestern football team definitely made the right decision.
