Did Nick Saban go overseas to recruit? Alabama lands German LB and Finland Offensive Lineman

Nick Saban is a legendary coach, and when the transfer portal is not going your way, you better find a way to land more prospects. Well, Nick Saban and Alabama have done just that and they are finding talent across the pond.

Saban vacationed in Italy last May, touring Rome, Venice, Florence, and the Amalfi Coast, and he just landed a three-star German linebacker and an offensive lineman from Finland.

Fast forward and today Alabama landed a commitment from linebacker Justin Okoronkwo of Furstenfeldbruck, Bavaria, in Germany. He was considered a three-star recruit, and while no one knows if Saban made the 6-hour drive from Italy to German to visit the linebacker, Saban is looking everywhere to find talent.

According to Outkick, Saban has signed others from overseas as well. For the class of 2023, Saban landed offensive lineman Olaus Alinen of Pori, Finland. Alinen moved to Windsor, Connecticut for his junior year of high school in 2021. And in 2022, Saban signed punter James Burnip of Melbourne, Australia.

I think this move is brilliant. There are a ton of talented players overseas, and Saban is a beast at landing solid players. Let’s see what happens, but can Alabama continue to shine with it being hard to land players in the transfer portal? Money talks and these kids are taking money big time.
