Summary:

Senior.  DT starter.  Transferred from Oregon last season.  Wide-bodied DT with above-average skills as a run defender and below average pass rusher.  As a run defender, he is above average.  More of a space eater who does a good job of anchoring and staying parallel to the LOS; can be very hard to move from his spot.  Has a good first step and is seldom late getting off the ball.  Good anchor in short yardage and will occasionally get some vertical push.  Stout interior defender who can get inside leverage and make open-field tackles on ballcarriers.  Has good use-of-hands, keeps working to the whistle, doesn’t loaf.  Good instincts – takes good angles.  Has decent knee bend.  Occupies space and frees up other defenders to clean up.  As a pass rusher, he is below average and could really improve his stock if he develops in this area as a senior.  Neutralized one-on-one a bit too much and could develop an extra move beyond a basic bull rush.  Not very quick on stunts and twists.  Will reach the QB but overpursues and/or struggles to wrap up.  Subbed in/out a lot in the games viewed; stamina is up and down.

Scheme Fit:

DT in 3-4/4-3

Power Statement:

Kristian is above average as a run defender and below average as a pass rusher.  He can improve his value the most if he develops as a pass rusher during his senior season.
