Watch the New York Jets mess this up! Aaron Rodgers or Lamar Jackson? They will pick the old man

The New York Jets have a ton of great young pieces on their roster. They are a quarterback away from striking GOLD, and if they can somehow find a way to lure Lamar Jackson away from the Ravens they would have their franchise QB.

Well, I would not be shocked if the Jets go full court press on Aaron Rodgers instead. What does Rodgers even offer?

Rodgers is old as hell, has about two to three years left, and while he is a very good quarterback, why would you salvage a lot to go get him, when you can have a young Lamar Jackson who can truly help push your team over the top.

While the Ravens intend to use the franchise tag on Jackson if the two sides cannot come to a long-term agreement, there is a “possibility” that a trade offer involving a huge windfall of draft picks could tempt the Ravens into moving him, according to Tom Pelissero, Ian Rapoport, and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

You cannot think a package of draft picks for Lamar Jackson is a bad decision. I mean, it will likely cost the same amount to land Aaron Rodgers.

Speaking with ESPN’s Dianna Russini on the red carpet ahead of the NFL Honors ceremony Thursday, New York Jets owner Johnson spoke candidly about New York’s struggles at quarterback during the 2022 season.

“The weakness right now is in the quarterback position,” Johnson said. “Whether it was management or whatever, everybody kind of regressed a little bit so what we’re gonna do is we are gonna look for an experienced quarterback to come in and help us and help develop these other young players.”

After reading that quote you can already tell that Johnson is leaning towards the veteran Rodgers, but what if they did make the smart move and go after Lamar Jackson instead.

When thinking of teams that would immediately become Super Bowl contenders with a good quarterback the Jets are the first team to come to mind.

They are coming off an incredible draft. That included first-team all-pro corner Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson who still eclipsed 1000 yards despite a bad quarterback situation, plus Breece Hall who was off to a great start to his career before an ACL injury ended his season.

The defense is one of the league’s very best as they were top five in both yardage and points allowed. The offense meanwhile could be very good as well with Lamar Jackson under center.

Despite having just the 13th overall pick the Jets are in a good spot to make a compelling offer to the Ravens. They would likely be more willing than most to offer three first-round picks because their roster apart from the quarterback is Super Bowl contender quality.

They also have star young players to offer the Ravens if that’s what they ask for. Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson look like legit stars at their respected positions in just their first year.

The Jets are not far away, but can they make a move that makes sense? You can be the best drafting team in the world, but if you mess up the quarterback position it doesn’t matter.

Who do you think the Jets land?
