Pittman’s Pocket: HBCU RB Chase Bingmon makes the Jerry Rice Award Finalists

Several HBCU standouts are drawing attention for the prestigious Jerry Rice Award, honoring the top freshman at the FCS level.
Chase Bingmon of Prairie View A&M leads the charge, having already been recognized as a Pittman’s Pocket HBCU True Freshman All-American last year. This season, he has rushed for over 800 yards and played a key role in guiding Prairie View to the SWAC West title and the SWAC Championship under new head coach Tremaine Jackson.
Joining him in consideration are Jared Lockhart from Jackson State and Khamani Robinson from Bethune-Cookman, both of whom have impressed with their early-season performances and contributions to their respective programs.
Bingmon would become the second Pittman’s Pocket HBCU True Freshman All-American to be nominated for the award, following Travis Terrell Jr. of Jackson State last year. Draft Diamonds and Pittman’s Pocket LLC are proud of these young athletes’ accomplishments and hope to see Bingmon continue the legacy of HBCU players like Shedeur Sanders, who won the Jerry Rice Award in 2021
