Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith has a sprained shoulder

New England Patriots v Kanas City ChiefsChiefs coach Andy Reid told reporters today that Smith suffered a shoulder sprain in yesterday’s win over the Rams. According to Pro Football Talk, the Chiefs gunslinger has a tender shoulder.

Reid added that Smith’s right shoulder was “a little tender,” today, after suffering the injury late in the first half.

Smith was 24-of-28 for 226 yards, and handing off for another 143 yards rushing, which is a pretty impressive stat line. Reid expect Smith to be fine for his week 9 match-up with the New York Jets. Reid did not know when it happened but said it was right before half time.

“He just kind of landed on it. Probably more of a bruise than anything. But it was tender.”
