Tom Brady to San Francisco has now opened up, and it makes some sense. Let’s break it down a bit.
We know Tom Brady grew up a San Franscisco 49ers fan and he was a diehard Joe Montana fan. With the news Monday that Brock Purdy suffered a torn UCL in his elbow and could miss six months, it opened the door for the veteran free agent.
Think about it, the 49ers trading Trey Lance who has underwent two surgeries this year and letting Jimmy G leave in free agency.
Tom Brady joining the Niners could be a huge addition. In 2019 the 49ers thought about signing Brady in after he left the New England Patriots, but decided to stick with Jimmy G. The 49ers’ roster has been of championship caliber since 2019.
Tom Brady would be 46 at the start of the season next year, could he be the answer for the 49ers? Well, it would give Brock Purdy a chance to fully heal and gives the 49ers a solid back-up to replace Brady when he does retire.
Purdy held his own all year and it would make sense because the Niners could get a compensatory pick for letting Jimmy G sign elsewhere and give the Niners the option to deal Trey Lance which could bring in a nice little haul.
