Semi-pro football team is getting backlash after allowing Tamir Rice’s killer play on their team

Timothy Loehmann a former police officer who killed Tamir Rice has been playing semi pro football, and now it is causing a problem.

Timothy Loehmann has been a member of the Cleveland Warriors a semi-pro football team. The team from Northeast Ohio is made up of current police officers, prison guards and other first responders.

There is only one problem, Mr. Loehmann is no longer an active duty law enforcement officer.

If you do not know who Tim Loehmann is, he is responsible for killing Tamir Rice in Clevleand.

Tamir Rice was the 12-year-old Black boy fatally shot by a Cleveland police officer in 2014.

A former corrections officer Randy Knight, became irate that the team has allowed Loehmann to play on the team, after he himself was told he could not play on the team because he was no longer employed by the corrections facility.

The league requires players to be active-duty emergency responders. Loehmann’s career as a law enforcement officer is over, after being fired in 2017. He was never criminally charged for the killing, but was still allowed to play.

So on Saturday during their first practice, Knight led a protest and boy did it get some people upset.

Samaria Rice the mother of Tamir commented on the team allowing Tim to play.

“I think it’s careless and irresponsible for them to allow him to play,” Samaria Rice, Tamir’s mother, said. “His career is over as a police officer in the state of Ohio as far as I’m concerned. It’s just ridiculous.”

What do you think? Should the league allow him to play? It is not fair if they allow Loehmann to play and not Knight. I can see why they are upset.
