DeMeco Ryans to the Texans just makes sense
Strong possibility that the 49ers Defensive Coordinator Demeco Ryans could be the next coach of the Houston Texans. Reports say that Ryans is having his 2nd interview with the Texans and if all goes well, he will be offered the HC job. I would expect it to be very soon!
Once one of the best linebackers in the league while playing for the Texans, Demeco Ryans returning to lead the charge seems like a perfect fit. Ryan’s in his 2 years as Defensive Coordinator finished top 3 in total defense.
If hired, Ryans would return to Houston with a six-year run as a San Francisco assistant on his resume, spending the last two seasons as defensive coordinator. He also logged 10 seasons as an NFL linebacker, including a six-year stint with the Texans.
While the Texans are coming off a 3-13-1 season, it’s not a stretch to see why a coaching candidate would be interested. If he was to take the job, Ryan’s would have quite a bit of work to do to overhaul their young roster but having the 2nd overall pick in this year’s draft to get C.J. Stroud or Bryce Young would be a good start.
Yesterday, Ryans pulled his name out of the mix for the Broncos head coaching job, so steam could pick up quickly!
