NFL Draft Diamonds Free Agent Interview: Jamal Smith, Defensive Back

Jamal Smith Free Agent Interview
Jamal Smith the aggressive Free Agent Defensive Back recently joined NFL Draft Diamonds writer Justin Berendzen for this exclusive interview.

Hello, I am @jrberendzen on Twitter and this is one of my free agent interviews where I ask very deserving free agents questions about the players themselves and about what a team would get in these players. All of these players should get picked up by NFL, CFL, and XFL teams and get a shot at being a career football player. So I hope you all read his interview here and follow his journey on Twitter @rigged_mal.

1.What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

It was a natural thing, it was something I got a lot of attention from. More importantly, it kept me motivated in life.

2.What do you think are the keys to success on the football field?

Let coach call the play and you do your job. Let role players be role players…

3.If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

Troy P. or Ray Lewis. Why? Is because they played the position where I want to be. They made it easier for us to be ballplayers.

4.Rank focus, footwork and skill based on what is most important to you as a football player and explain why? –

I rank focus first so you understand what you doing. Skilled based next because you can be good at what you do. Then footwork to make you a better ball player. That’s what’s important to me as a football player.

5.What is one skill that you have that you think translates into the NFL well?

My ability to understand what play the opposing team can be running.

6.What type of energy do you bring onto the football field?

Something that you can feel, something that will put you in your place.

7.What do you hope to achieve as a football player going forward? –

What I hope too achieve is signing to a winning team most importantly, I lost too many games in college.

8.What sets you apart from other defensive backs?

What sets me apart from other defensive backs is that I have a way of not having the other team being able to understand me and what our team has going on.
