Today the Carolina Panthers continued their search to find a starting wide receiver after releasing Steve Smith and opting not to re-sign Ted Ginn Jr. The Panthers signed Jason Avant today to a one year deal according to Aaron Wilson of National Football Post.

As of right now their starting wide outs are horrible, and if you add in Jason Avant they do not get any better. To be honest the Panthers better draft several wide outs in 2014, or they can count the 2014 season a loss.
The Carolina Panthers have the 28th pick in the NFL and will need to select a wide out. In our 2 round mock draft we have the Panthers selecting Brandin Cooks with the 28th pick, but I could see the Panthers trying to trade up to land a top tier wide out like Mike Evans, if he falls out of the top ten. The Panthers need all the help they can get and let’s face it with the wide out listed above they are not going to get to the playoffs.
