Columbia University freshman WR Jackson Coker died in single car accident in Texas

Freshman wide receiver Jackson Coker a star wide receiver from Texas died Wednesday morning in a car accident in Austin, Texas.

The 18 year old wide out was ejected from the vehicle according to the police report. Coker was pronounced dead at the scene.

Coker was in his second semester at Columbia University and was attending classes virtually due to the pandemic.

Columbia University released this statement:

“We are shocked and saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Jackson Coker,” Columbia’s Patricia and Shepard Alexander Head Coach of Football Al Bagnoli said. “Not only was he a talented student-athlete who excelled on and off the field, but someone who embodied the personal characteristics our program is built upon. He personified what great teammates are all about. They give great effort in everything they undertake, are extremely accountable in their actions and always put team first. That, in a nutshell was Jackson.”

“Our entire football family grieves with his passing and our program extends our deepest sympathies to the Coker family.”

Coker was one of the most electrifying high school wide receivers in Texas in 2019. He tore it up and finished his career with 70 receptions for 1,298 yards receiving and 20 touchdowns. His Westlake High School won the Texas Class 6A State Title in 2019.
