Yogi Hale

What is your Height/Weight? 

5’8 177 lbs

What is your position? 

Cornerback

Where do you play college football? 

University of San Diego 

Football is about giving back, what is the coolest thing you have done off the field? 

For the past three years I’ve been apart of the Autism Tree foundation program here in San Diego. Being able to assist a family with a son that was diagnosed with autism is something I really enjoy because it allows me to have a relationship with good people and experience things I haven’t experienced before. 

What was the hardest college class you ever had to take?

Communication and Research Methods was hard for me.

Where are you from? 

The Bay Area, California

Who is your role model, and why? 

Any small athlete in the League holding it down. 

Did you play any other sports growing up? 

Active with many sports! Basketball, track and field, and Baseball.

Did you play any other positions in football? 

Athlete.

At your position, what separates you from others? 

Probably my aggressiveness and awareness.

When you are breaking down film, what do you look for?

If I watch myself I’m looking at my technique and areas I can improve on. If I’m game planning I pay attention to the WRs route running and tendencies.

Who was the toughest player you ever faced? 

Old teammates Eric Lauderdale at ASU and Reggie Bell with the Saints.

If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be and why? 

The Honey Badger, Tyrann Matheiu! He is a small guy with a big heart and is exciting to watch. 

What was the biggest obstacle in your life you had to overcome, and how did you overcome it? 

During the beginning of this year I lost my cousin who was killed, he was someone I was very close to that really set me back for awhile mentally. But I had overcome it by staying positive and dedicated my last season to him.

Yogi HaleDo you have any pre-game rituals? 

I text my mom before every game and tell her I love her, and then I listen to my favorite song “Get Rich” by Iamsu/RJ

As a small school football player what obstacles do you feel you have to overcome?

Coming from a small school where we don’t get that much exposure as FBS schools, the only way to overcome that is to not think about that and just put up numbers and pray for recognition.

What is your biggest strength? 

Very competitive!

What is your biggest weakness? 

Overlooked because of size.

If I were a GM and gave you a second to sell yourself, what would you say? 

I’m a hungry dude who is very competitive. All I need is an opportunity!

Who was your favorite player and/or NFL team growing up? 

Brian Dawkins and Ed Reed. Both players were exciting to watch!

If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would you choose? 

Sean Taylor, Bob Marley, and Tupac

With your first NFL paycheck what would you buy?

Whatever my parents want.
