Draft Diamonds Free Agent Interview: Mitchell Berghs, Longsnapper

Mitchell Berghs
Mitchell Berghs is a solid free agent longsnapper who is hoping to get a shot in the NFL. Check out his Free Agent Interview by Justin Berendzen only on NFL Draft Diamonds.

Hello, I am @jrberendzen on Twitter and this is one of my free agent interviews where I ask very deserving free agents questions about the players themselves and about what a team would get in these players. All of these players should get picked up by NFL and CFL teams and get a shot at being a career football player. So I hope you all read this interview for Mitchell here, and follow him journey on Twitter @MBerghs97

1.What are your favorite moments from your football career?

The times that our team endured and overcame adversity. An example was my senior year of college when we were playing UW-Platteville. They scored with 1:52 left to go up 3, and we responded by executing a 2-minute drill, including two 3rd down conversions to score with 22 seconds left to win the game and keep our playoff hopes alive.

2.What is your dream car?

Either a Ford F-250 Power Stroke lifted or a 2014 Shelby Mustang GT.

3.What is your mindset when you are on the football field?

Control what you can control, and that’s this snap. Not the previous snap, not the snaps in the future. This snap right now is the most important snap.

4.If you could hang out with any football player past or present for a day who and why?

Matt Overton. I choose him because on the field I think he’s my closest NFL comparison. I think we have similar physical stature and the snaps themselves are also similar. He’s also a great blocker and I have the utmost confidence I’m one of if not the best blocking snappers out there. I’d also want to hang out with him because he’s friends with one of my favorite music artists in Chase Rice.

5.If you were on an island and could only have three things which three things would you have?

Food, clothes, and a roof over my head, life’s essentials.

6.If you could live anywhere in the world where and why?

I would live in the city for the team that gives me the chance I deserve. If I could live anywhere in life after my playing days, I’d want to stay home in the Milwaukee area with a cabin in northern Wisconsin.

7.What do you hope to accomplish if you get into the NFL?

Just one thing and that’s to win a Super Bowl. Individual accolades don’t matter to me that much. I’m all about chasing that ultimate team award, a championship. I’ve won a lot of games and won or competed for championships at every level of my football career. I expect the same for whichever team I play for to chase that championship no matter what the analysts say the expectations should be for our team.

8.What made you decide you wanted to be a football player?

Growing up in Wisconsin, you live and die by the Green Bay Packers. Watching them on Sundays is the state’s religion. When I first saw Brett Favre throwing rockets to receivers and LeRoy Butler making plays all over the defensive side of the ball, I immediately fell in love with the game and knew it would be my first love the rest of my life.

9.If you were an animal which animal would you be and why?

Black Mamba. I’m all about that mamba mentality.

10.What would a team get in a player like you?

A player that constantly has that small school chip on his shoulder. I came from Division III where there are no athletic scholarships, or you didn’t receive unlimited amounts of free equipment and clothes. It was all worth it to pay to play Division III football because I love the game of football that much. The money at the professional level is just a small bonus to me getting the opportunity to keep playing the game I love.

11.What do you do for fun?

After the work and training is done, I like to go to or watch our state’s professional sporting events (Packers, Bucks, Brewers). I also like to go golfing in the summer and snowmobile (responsibly) in the winter. I will emphasize again these activities I do after the work is done. My training and preparation come first.

12.If your life was a tv show what would you call it and why?

“What you see is what you get.” Minus on the football field with the high emotions it causes, I’m the same everywhere else in everyday life. I don’t act fake for different situations. I don’t act like a perfect angel for an interview and then act like a complete jerk and moron as soon as I leave the building or hang up the phone. I’m the same all around. I’m not having someone respond to this interview for me to try to say everything perfectly. These are my own responses. The guy that walks into your building day 1 will be the same guy years later. What you see is what you get.
