Tell us about your university/college. What was your major/minor? How is campus life?

Presbyterian College is a small Division 1 school in Clinton, South Carolina. They have small classrooms. It’s a really good education with good relationships with professors. I major in Biology. Campus life is solid. I’m a part of a great organization in the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, and it helps me have a little bit of extra fun but not too much.

What do your teammates say is your best quality?

They say my leadership is my best quality. I really just try to lead by example because words without actions don’t mean anything.

What kind of role do you see yourself in on the team? What scheme and/or position suits your skill set?

I see myself as being a team player. I believe that I’m versatile enough to play wherever I’m needed. Our team runs a 4-2 multiple where I’ve played inside and outside backer. At the pro level, I’d be comfortable playing LB, nickel or safety and certainly be a vital contributor on special teams. Obviously, the ideal position for me would be MLB because that’s what I’ve played the most, but I have no problem playing where I’m needed.

Who is the best player you have ever played against in college?

I want to say Greg Dortch. We played Wake Forest freshman year, and that kid’s speed was unreal. I’m lucky I never got in the situation where I had to cover him.

Which one of your teammates impresses you the most?

There’s no way I could single one of them out. All of them boys come to work everyday. Everyone competes everyday in the weightroom, field or wherever it is even if things aren’t going the way we want. That’s really what impresses me.

Describe a time in your life when you were able to overcome a struggle.

Really a majority of my football career. I’ve been “undersized” for a MLB nearly my whole life. It was tough getting colleges to take a shot on a kid that was barely 6ft and 205 lbs coming out of high school at my position. So I just had to work harder than the kids that were gifted with the “football frame” that colleges want nowadays.  However, one division 1 school took that shot and I don’t think either one of us regret that decision.

If you didn’t play football, what other sport would you play?

100% would have played soccer. I played football, basketball, and soccer in highschool. I also played travel soccer during football season. I loved the sport and still do. I think I could have played in college if I took it as seriously as football.

What is something that you are most proud of? What would you say is your biggest achievement?

Signing to a division 1 school and getting my education paid for. People don’t understand how much you can use football instead of letting it use you. Though when I graduate I think it’ll be that because I will be the first person in my family to do so.

Describe one of the most memorable plays of your collegiate career.

My first interception was pretty memorable. They ran an RPO so I got sucked up a few steps, then I read pass and turned to run out. The ball got tipped and I was able to get there, layout, and catch the interception with nothing but my fingertips between the ground and the ball.

Do you have a favorite athlete or professional team? Is there a player that you model your game after?

My favorite player is retired sadly. But he is who I also model my game after or at least try to and that’s Troy Polamalu. I know it’s different positions but the way he plays the game is what I try to emulate. Also, Luke Kuechly is a guy I try to emulate at the linebacker position.

Who is your favorite music artist? What gets you pumped before a game?

I don’t have a favorite artist per se. But I have a playlist that consists of a lot of rap and a few metal songs I listen to before games.

What is your favorite comfort food?

Easily is Fried Chicken.

Do you have a favorite movie or actor?

Got to be Step Brothers.

What do you do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies?

I play video games a good bit but also go and play soccer when I can.

Who or what motivates you the most?

My family and friends. They give me more support than I deserve. I owe it to them for all the sacrifices they have made. As well as self-motivation. I say this because when you’re alone grinding in the dark there is no one there but yourself. I think self-motivation is what takes an athlete’s game to the next level.
